Warning: This is NOT about predicting someone’s future, fortune, or fame just by looking at the lines on the person’s palm. It will not tell you who or when you’re going to get married, or how many kids you will have.
Although Chirology, or Cheirology is indeed the study of the hand, it is much more than palm reading. It actually involves scientific research that studies the relationship between the shapes and patterns of the human hand and the personality and character traits of the person.
It is said that scientific studies on the hand started on prison inmates at the end of the19th century. Researchers wanted to see if there were any correlation between the psychological traits of the inmates and the structure and features of their hands. This study is continued towards the 20th century where physicians and doctors such as Charlotte Wolfe found significant relationships between a person’s psychological disorder and the shape of their fingers, nails, lines, and fingerprints.
Hand research continued on and by the end of the 20th century, technical schools of learning were established and so Chirology as a profession began.
Today, studies show that certain psychological disorders such as schizophrenia, psychosis, bipolar, depression and autism, have fingerprint correlations.
But this is not just limited to psychological disorders. Studies have also shown a correlation between an individual’s finger length and their inclination to sports, music, and more.
Permanent features seen on the hand will reflect the individual’s character as a person.
The hand now becomes an individual’s blueprint as it can provide information on the physical and psychological characteristics of a person.
There are several features that you can look for on a person’s hand to be able to provide an accurate profile of the person. The size and shape of the fingers, the complexity of the fingerprints, the line and marking intersections, all play a role in the analysis.
If you are interested to have your hand analyzed, it is important to have this done by a professional chirology practitioner. Make sure they discuss with you how each of their findings correlates with the features of your hand.
